Domination & Update 1.5 First Impressions - Insurgency: Sandstorm Patch Review

Yesterday Patch 1.5 dropped on the Community Test Environment (CTE) which included the much-loved Domination Game Mode, changes to gunplay and movement, and tons of performance improvements. I had a chance to play some great matches last night, so I thought I'd drop a quick video on my thoughts and a little mini-review of Domination and the patch overall. After all the talking bits, you can see two complete matches of Domination starting at 6:00, so feel free to skip ahead if you don't want to hear my voice. To summarize, this patch is freaking outstanding. The new game mode is super fun and honestly a great replacement for players who are missing TDM. It features all the fast gunplay, but with an actual objective. The matches are 10-15 minutes in length and the game mode is well known among first person shooter fans, which will really help to bring some players over from games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Battlefield who may want a bit more realism in their FPS. As I speak to in the video, the gunplay and movement changes really tighten things up, as well. I felt that snappy plays and accurate shooting are much more possible now instead of being kind of a crapshoot of weapon sway and recoil like they have been on previous patches. Lastly, the performance improvements are HUGE. The game runs much smoother and some of the tickrate and netcode issues were completely absent during my six games. A lot of people commented similarly on this in-game, so I really think New World has found some great optimizations and fixes. There are some issues with the patch, of course. Most notably, the TDM spawning system needs some work in Domination. There were a lot of weird spawns where I would end up right on top of an enemy capture point, or conversely I would clear a section of the map only to have someone spawn 10 feet behind me. The random spawns are really important to keep the game mode fluid, but I hope they can tweak the positions and spawning algorithm a little to make these moments less common. Have you played Domination yet? What did you think? I'd love to hear down in the comments! Thanks.
