New World Interactive released Frenzy mode for Insurgency: Sandstorm on 31 May as a new arcade mode on the Community Test Environment (CTE). It is a cooperative mode that is sort of like a hardcore version of Call of Duty’s Zombies or Left 4 Dead. As with the other cooperative modes, you and your team must travel through the map capturing objectives, repeal counter attacks, and destroy weapons caches.
What’s different in Frenzy, however, is that the enemies are all “zombies” that have no weapons aside from their trusty kukris. What do have, however, is insane speed, perfect accuracy, and a myriad of special powers, such as the 6’10” juggernauts (a.k.a. PUBG zombie), screaming pyros that explode in flames, and stealthy teleporters than can even get to you through closed doors.
The mode is punishingly tough and extremely fun. It’s a big departure from the gritty, realistic middle east combat you are used to in Insurgency: Sandstorm, but in my opinion its a welcome break from the often sweaty normal modes. Frenzy is perfect for getting together with some comrades, tossing back a few beers, and squealing like schoolgirls as Mr. PUBG laughs off your bullets and rips you apart.
